An educational trip to the post office was organized for the students of Grades 2 & 3 on 14th October 2022, to mark the National Postal Week and enhance their learning experience on topic ‘Communication’.
The students visited the Chitrapuri Colony Post Office. The visit to the post office gave students a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of the postmaster and postman. The postmaster explained to the students a brief history of Indian post, various types of postal services, how letters are collected, sorted and delivered to their destinations. He also showed various inland letters , stamps and post cards. The students were excited to see letters being stamped and sorted. They also understood the significance of each digit in the 6-digit pincode. Each child was provided with a post card , in which they wrote short letters to their parents and posted the same in the letter box.
The field trip was an enjoyable and informative experience for the students as most of them were seeing the post office for the first time.
Later, they were asked to draw the logo of India Post and write about their field trip learning experience.

Grades 4 & 5 students of Gitanjali Vedika School were taken on an educational field trip to the POST OFFICE located in Chitrapuri Colony on 28/10/22.
The officials in the post office explained the functioning and the uses of post offices. They also explained about the pincode and its importance. Children became aware about the duties of a postman , speed post , usage of stamp , logo of post office, pincode etc.
The students were excited to drop the postcards written to their dear ones into the post box.
This short trip to post office educated our students about the oldest form of communication.
