CSIR-CCMB, Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology had an Open Day on the occasion of CSIR's 80th Foundation Day. The students of grades 7 and 8 took this opportunity to visit the institution. They learnt many things like the history of CCMB, the working of an electron microscope, advanced microscopy and got the opportunity to observe various research works like gene extraction methods, proteomics, the human genome project. They also visited stalls and learnt about the current research in agriculture, research related to the Zebrafish life cycle, and current research on rice. They observed arthropods and liquid nitrogen, and were able to relate it to their syllabus. Children asked questions to the volunteer who guided the children throughout the session. They then gathered and enjoyed the refreshments provided.
