Hope is the thing that can get anyone through the darkest of times. That was the theme of Gitanjali Vedika’s first annual day, ‘Festival of Hope.’ The evening of December 22nd was made spectacular by incandescent performances by students of all classes.
The evening was graced by the management and leaders of Gitanjali Group of Schools. Positivity radiated in the arena as the lamp was lit and blessings were invoked. Cultural programs began with the orchestra of students playing instrumental covers and singing various popular songs, getting the audience excited for the evening ahead. Mr. Jai Karan, the Managing Director of Vedika and Mrs. Madhavi Chandra, the Associate Director of Vedika addressed the gathering and imparted their words of wisdom.
The welcome song was sung live by the student choir complemented perfectly by a semi classical dance performed by girls of middle school, reminding everyone to be grateful for the things we have. Next up was an adorable adaptation of Cinderella, performed by the little ones of Pre-Primary. Then it was time to reflect on the year gone by, through the school report presented by our esteemed Principal, Ms. Sonia Nagpal.
The students of grades 1,2,3 ICSE and Cambridge took everyone on a magical journey. They showcased cultures and festivals of India, Japan and Mexico through colorful dances and emotive acting. The school awarded and recognised the exemplary work of teachers who went beyond their assigned duties to ensure the development of students. The students of grades 4 and 5 brought to everyone’s notice how creatures in nature feel as a result of the pollution and climate crisis through a powerful ‘Nukkad Natak’. The students of 5,6,7 and 8 showed through a skit that all is not lost and there is still hope for the Earth and environment if we adopt the methods used by Indian tribes to protect nature. The evening concluded with a powerful dance medley of Yoga Dance, Western Dance and an LED Dance which was a visual treat for all.
