“You’ll never know what you are capable of until you take that first step and just go for it.” Through Vedika Verve, Gitanjali Vedika’s Sports Day celebrations, students challenged themselves to reach greater heights and discover their love for physical activities. Mr. Alexander Francis, the Chief Guest, Ms. R Surabhi Bharadwaj, the Special Guest and our dynamic Mrs. Gita Karan ma’am [Founder Principal and Director, Gitanjali Group of Schools] graced the event with their presence. Mr. Francis is an SATS Coach and Shooting Range In charge. Ms. Bhardwaj is an International Shotgun Shooting Champion. Their precious inputs motivated the students to achieve more. The presence of Ms. Madhavi Chandra, the associate director magnified the splendour of the day.
The Chief Guest and the Special Guest were welcomed by adorable grade 1 students through a colourful guard of honour. The little ones of Pre-Primary started off the event with a prayer dance which left everyone feeling positive and excited. The coordinator of Vedika, Ms. Nitasha Karan, welcomed and expressed gratitude to the guests for sharing their valuable time. The sounds of synchronised thuds of footsteps triggered the spirit of sportsmanship in all. The Student Council led the students of grade 6 and 7 to showcase their discipline through the March Past. The Principal, Ms. Sonia Nagpal delivered the school annual report which highlighted the achievements of the staff, students, and the school as a whole. Martial Arts are often regarded as moving meditation and a lesson in respect. Grade 3 students showed how true this was through their spectacular and eye-catching Karate display. A few girls of grades 4 and 6 then delivered a rich cover of ‘We are the Champions’ to motivate the audience.The associate director, Ms.Madhavi Chandra then motivated students with her inspiring words. The little ones of grade 2 showed their fitness in a series of interesting ‘Fancy Races' where each and every one of the students gave it their all to win the medals. The Chief Guest, Mr. Alexander Francis then addressed the gathering and gave meaningful and relatable advice to the students. It is always important to acknowledge victories, big or small. Students of classes 1 to 3 were given prizes for their various sport related achievements. Next was the 4 X 100 metres relay race which gave the girls and boys of grades 6 and 7 the opportunity to showcase their swiftness. Jumpfit is a regular part of the week for students of Vedika. Jumpfit is a way for the students to enjoy themselves while they sweat off. The hard work they put in throughout the year was showcased via the foot-tapping and enthusiastic Zumba performance of students of grades 4 and 5. Graceful synchronisation was displayed by classes 6 and 7 in the Hula Hoop drill which truly mesmerised the audience. The sports achievements of grades 4 to 7 students were then acknowledged and prizes were given away. Competitiveness gives one the drive to attain new altitudes. The teachers of Gitanjali Vedika believe in developing themselves first so that they may bring their best to the classroom everyday. Some teachers excelled and their hard work was praised and rewarded by our respected Mrs. Gita Karan ma’am. The Sports Captain, Ashrith Krishna G, delivered the vote of thanks to the dignitaries, audience, staff, and students that came together to ensure the success of the event. The spirited morning concluded with the National Anthem for which the violin was played by Vedika’s own violinist, Samhita of grade 7.
