The spirit of tradition, energy, and unity shone brightly as Gitanjali Vedika School celebrated its Annual Sports Day – “Roots and Rhythm: A Celebration of Indian Games – Echoes of the Past, Energy of Today” on Saturday, 25th October 2025. The event beautifully reflected the school’s commitment to physical fitness, teamwork, and cultural heritage, blending the timeless charm of Indian games with the enthusiasm of modern-day sportsmanship.
The morning commenced with a dignified Guard of Honour by the students of Class 3, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Mrs. Akansha, Middle School Coordinator, who warmly greeted the gathering and emphasized the role of sports in shaping discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. The cultural presentation “Dance of Harmony: A Cultural Confluence” by Class 7 captivated the audience, celebrating India’s unity through art and rhythm.
The Flag Hoisting, Torch Lighting Ceremony, and the declaration of the Sports Meet open were graced and led by Mr. Jaikaran, Managing Director of Gitanjali Vedika School. The March Past was a spectacular display of discipline, coordination, and team spirit, as students from all grades marched with pride and precision. Mr. Jaikaran received the salute with great honour and appreciation, commending the students for their enthusiasm and impeccable performance.
The School Report, presented by Ms. Sonia Nagpal, highlighted the institution’s accomplishments in academics, co-curriculars, and sports.
The performance “Dashavtar: The Eternal Triumph of Good over Evil” by Classes 1 and 2 enchanted spectators with its vivid portrayal of moral virtue and cultural richness.
Excitement filled the grounds as the Fancy Race: Gleeful Gallops and Giggles and Run for Fun: A Playful Pursuit for Classes 1 to 4 brought cheer and laughter. The Students of Cambridge Classes presented “Rhythm of the Earth: The Tribal Groove”, a lively depiction of India’s tribal heritage through music and movement.
An inspiring introduction and address by Mrs. Madhvi Chandra, Associate Director, Gitanjali Group of Schools, added depth to the occasion. She commended the commitment of students and staff, underscoring the importance of discipline, participation, and perseverance in shaping balanced and confident individuals.
The “Yoga to Yodha” display by Classes 3 and 4 gracefully illustrated the connection between mindfulness and strength. The Prize Distribution for Grades 1 to 4 was conducted by Mrs. Nitasha Karan, Pre-Primary Coordinator and Advisor, Gitanjali Devakul, who lauded the young achievers for their enthusiasm and effort.
The thematic performance “Roots of Recreation: Timeless Traditions Revived” by Classes 5 and 6 brought nostalgic Indian games to life, highlighting the joy of teamwork and play. The Relay Race for Classes 8 to 10 added a thrilling competitive edge, followed by the Prize Distribution for Grades 5 to 10, presented by Mr. Jaikaran.
The audience was enthralled by “Power in Poise: The Martial Artistry” by Classes 7 to 10, a striking display of discipline, precision, and strength.
The school was privileged to welcome Captain Dipayan from the Naval Service as the Chief Guest for the event. A distinguished officer known for his exemplary service and leadership, Captain Dipayan inspired everyone with his insightful message on discipline, teamwork, and integrity — values that shape strong individuals and a resilient nation.
The day concluded with the presentation of Teacher Awards, Grade X Awards, Team Awards, and Individual Awards honouring the Best Sportspersons and House Champions. The closing ceremony featured the Lowering of the Flag, a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Nandita, Pre-Primary Coordinator, and the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable celebration.
The Annual Sports Day 2025 truly embodied its theme — reviving the roots of our heritage while embracing the rhythm and energy of today — leaving every participant inspired and every spectator proud.
