Daanustav 2021

“We rise by lifting others”. This quote by Robert Ingersoll perfectly captures the essence of what it means to be kind and humane. Kindness is a vital value that we want to instill in our students, who will grow to become the future of this planet. Through ‘Daan Utsav’, students of Gitanjali Vedika experienced the Joy of Giving. The school partnered with Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan, a sanctuary for orphaned children and donated essentials to bring a smile to the faces of these little ones.  All the students from grades 1 to 7 enthusiastically participated to bring in as many things as they could. Donations included grocery items like rice, pulses, flour and snack items to fill the tummy, toiletries to ensure hygiene and safety, school supplies to make sure that the children get a good education, and lastly mosquito repellents to protect the children of the orphanage from pesky insects. Kindness is not just about giving away materialistic items, but it is also about using kind words and empathising with others. In the week leading up to World Kindness Day, as part of club activities, students of Gitanjali Vedika sent e-cards with sweet and uplifting messages to sick children at St. Jude’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado, USA. Overall, it was a heartwarming month filled with learning, kindness, and humanity.
