Gitanjali Vedika has earned the reputation of promoting and providing a greener, healthier and sustainable campus premise. On the 18th of April, that was also the last working day for the students before the Summer Vacation, the school organised a ‘Seed Ball’ activity in association with Bhumi Organisation for Grade 6th students. The students were divided into small groups according to their houses and each house was given clumps of soil, compost, husk and a few seeds. The students combined the seeds with soil and compost and made a number of mud balls. The prime objective of this activity is to make balls that have seeds planted inside them so that wherever they throw these seeds, they grow into green plants whenever and wherever they get appropriate amounts with water and sunlight in the monsoons. The students thoroughly enjoyed this activity and it also encouraged them to promote nature friendly and sustainable practices in their day to day lives. The students took the mud balls back to their homes where they’re supposed to take care of them till they turn into fruitful plants. This further inculcates a sense of responsibility and sustainability in their minds.
