From Stethoscopes to Smiles – Doctor’s Day

Gitanjali Vedika School proudly celebrated Doctor’s Day with a thoughtfully curated two-day event that combined education, engagement, and inspiration. As part of the celebration, the school invited the parent-doctors Dr. Malireddy Chetan Reddy, Head of the Critical Care Department at Apollo Hospital, Rourkela, and Dr. Tashi Krishnan, Head of the OBG Department and a fertility specialist at Plutus Hospital, Shamshabad who graciously dedicated their time to share valuable knowledge and experiences with our young learners. On Day 1, students of Grades 1 and 2 participated in an engaging session titled “Healthy Habits for a Happy Life,” where the visiting doctor spoke about the importance of nutritious eating, staying active, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Concepts such as avoiding junk food, limiting screen time, and the benefits of outdoor play were explained through simple, relatable language. To make the session memorable, the doctor recited a delightful poem that helped children retain the key messages. One of the most exciting moments was when students had the opportunity to use a real stethoscope and listen to their own heartbeats a hands-on experience that sparked immense curiosity and joy. On Day 2, another set of doctor-parents, Dr. T V S Harish Kumar Tenneti and Dr. Nimshika Tenneti who are accomplished dentists, addressed the students of Grades 3 and 4 on the topic of “Dental Hygiene.” Through lively demonstrations and interactive discussion, the children learned about the structure and function of teeth, the impact of certain foods on dental health, and best practices for oral hygiene. The session highlighted how caring for one’s teeth contributes to overall health and well-being, making the children more mindful of their daily routines. Both sessions were beautifully tailored to the developmental levels of the students and delivered in a warm, engaging manner that left a lasting impression. Gitanjali Vedika School extends its heartfelt gratitude to the parent-doctors for their generosity and for playing a vital role in nurturing the next generation’s awareness about health and self-care.
