Gitanjali Devashray celebrated its Sports Day with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. After a hiatus of two years due to the Covid Pandemic, the offline event witnessed an unprecedented eagerness and participation from the children of the institution. Colonel Vikas Kohle, Officer Commanding (Depot Centre), AOC Centre, graced the celebration as the Chief Guest. The august presence of the Managing Director Mr Jai Karan, Associate Director Mrs Madhvi Chandra and Academic Advisor Mrs Nitasha Karan, along with the Principal, Mrs Kasturi Chatterjee, Head mistress Mrs Anjali Sharma, Pre primary in charge Mrs Sabrina Gardner, Senior Coordinator Mrs Chitra Santosh, teachers, parents and students made it a day to remember.
The lighting of the torch and a circumnavigation of the field by students who aced in various events, marked the commencement of the Sports Day. March past by the four Houses and exclusively by class 10 was a spectacular display of pride and solidarity. Guard of honour by class 1, Prayer song and drill by classes 2 & 3, Jumpfit drill by classes 4,5 and 6, saree drill by classes 7,8 and 9 were some of the events held classwise. Additionally, Yoga dance by primary students and Class 10, Karate display, races both single and relay and the inclusion of Special Education children made the Sports Day complete in all respect.
The inspirational speeches by Mrs Madhvi Chandra and Col Vikas Kohle, motivated everyone present. Bestowing the much coveted Teachers’ Awards and the prestigious Dev Karan Award created huge applause and inspiration among the audience. The trophy for the best March Past was secured by Coral House and the Overall Championship was won by Sapphire House. The programme culminated with the Vote of Thanks by the Sports Captain M Sahasra and a rendition of the National Anthem.
