Tyohaar ek par naam anek
The students of Gitanjali Devashray, grade 1 C celebrated the harvest festival of Makar Sankranti with a great joy and fervour today.
Every state in India celebrates this harvest festival brimming with local tradition and though each state gives this festival a different name with celebrations rich with different folk dances with all partaking in different delicacies associated with the festival but there is a single thread of being Indian which binds them all together.
The students spoke about each state and performed folk dances like Lohri, Poysh Sankranti,Pongal,Uttarayan, Makar Sankranti which brought out our country’s ‘Unity in Diversity’.
The students spoke of the importance of Sun God and also showcased the hardwork a farmer puts in to make our country self - sufficient. There was a special dance to honour the farmers too.
The colourful program concluded with the children taking an oath to Not to waste Food.
The grade 1 students spoke with a lot of confidence and the traditional colourful costumes, music, decor and dance made Makar Sankranti Celebrations assembly a memorable one.
