On 12th January 2026, the students of Grade 6 presented a colourful and culturally rich Special Assembly to celebrate the harvest festival of Sankranti, highlighting the spirit of gratitude, joy, and unity across India.
The assembly beautifully showcased the diverse ways in which Pongal and harvest festivals are celebrated across different states of India. The students came dressed in traditional costumes representing various states, adding authenticity and vibrancy to the performances. Through a combination of narration, folk songs, and energetic dances, the audience was taken on a cultural journey across the country.
Students presented folk songs and dances from different regions, including Assam, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other states. Each performance reflected the unique traditions, music, and dance forms associated with harvest celebrations in that region. The colourful attire, rhythmic movements, and confident expressions brought each state’s culture to life on stage.
The dances depicted the joy of farmers after a bountiful harvest and their gratitude towards nature, the Sun God, and the land. The folk songs added a traditional touch, enhancing the festive spirit and helping students understand the cultural significance of Sankranti and Pongal.
