Unraveling the Mysteries of Archaeology

The session on archaeology at Gitanjali Vedika opened a captivating window into the past, offering students a glimpse into the world of ancient civilizations, artifacts, and the methods used to uncover their secrets. Led by Mrs. Kunkumadevi Kishore, Senior Conservation Architect Heritage Matters,Hyderabad, the session aimed to kindle curiosity and inspire young minds to explore the mysteries that lie beneath the surface.

The session commenced with an engaging discussion on the definition and scope of archaeology. Students learned that archaeology is the scientific study of human history through the excavation and analysis of artifacts, structures, and other physical remains.

To make the learning experience more interactive, students were introduced to the various methods archaeologists employ during excavations. They learned about Remote sensing, Field survey, LIDAR, Ground Penetration Radar (GPR), showels, and how it helps determine the relative chronology of artifacts. The importance of meticulous documentation and recording of findings was emphasized.
