To honour the indigenous people and create awareness about the unique challenges they face, we celebrated International Day of the World’s Indigenous People on August 9th. Students of classes 1 to 7 were involved in various activities. Little ones of grades 1 and 2 learnt about the traditional tribal outfits by dressing up in tribal costumes. Students of grade 3 took upon the responsibility to educate everyone on the tribes of different states in India, their food, festivals, and clothing by presenting a special video during assembly. Middle schoolers were given the chance to interact with students from a local tribal school. This session allowed them to learn about the unique challenges that children in tribal areas face. They were awed by the differences in lifestyles. We invited Ms. Chandana Patil who is the Deputy Director of Education for Tribal Welfare to speak to our students and educate them about the tribal areas in our state.
